(1949) is a book by the philosopher Gilbert Ryle. In it, he describes what he saw as a “fundamental mistake” made by Descartesdualism, which underlies much of western philosophy. In the work, Ryle coined the phrase, “the dogma of the ghost in the machine,” to refer to Descartes’ model.

The fundamental error, according to Ryle, is a category mistake made when philosophers talk about mind and matter as if they were, “… terms of the same logical type.” Ryle claims that while it makes sense to talk about mental processes and events, that the

“… phrase ‘there occur mental processes’ does not mean the same sort of thing as ‘there occur physical processes,’ and, therefore, that it makes no sense to conjoin or disjoin the two.”

For Ryle, Cartesian dualism mistakenly assumes it is sensible to ask of a given cause, process, or event, whether it is mental or physical (with the implication that it cannot be both). ConceptOfMind

Perdition

Mr Ted>why can’t you just study the behaviour of the plant on its own without cluttering the experiment with earth, air, fire [heat] and water?

Plato>In classical thought, the four elements Earth, Water, Air, and Fire

Frost>Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both

eLG>Plato forgot to tell Aristotle earth, wind, fire and water come from Aether

At this point in history we took the wrong road.

This is the problem people. Everything since plato is wrong. Everything. Nothing is salvageable. Nothing. W e must go back to this point in history and start thinking outside the box.  Am I the only one that can see this?

Top Down/Bottom Up

TD/BU

I know NOTHING” – Schultz, Hogan’s Heros

Bottom up thinking makes NO assumptions. “It is obvious that” has no place in bottom up thinking. Nothing is taken for granted. This is fuzzy logic (bottom up thinking) Which can be “The best answer to date” (level 1), “This idea seems to work for the moment” (level 2) or the less definitive “Could be” (Level 3)

I am painting with a broad brush here. So as not to bloat the concepts, I will omit the exceptions, special cases and disclaimers.

Fuzzy logic is a form of multi-valued logic derived from fuzzy set theory to deal with reasoning that is approximate rather than precise. In contrast with “crisp logic”, where binary sets have binary logic, the fuzzy logic variables may have a membership value of not only 0 or 1 – that is, the degree of truth of a statement can range between 0 and 1 and is not constrained to the two truth values of classic propositional logic. Oh Really!, you think so huh?

In fact what is accepted as truth in top down thinking is only Level 1 as determined by bottom up thinking. It is NEVER complete, and could be entirely wrong if hijacked by religion, education or other societal programming. If this societal programming occurs during the critical period of growth (birth-age 7 or puberty) it can become imprinting, a PERMANENT inability of the mind to accept new concepts. A person can know, but not understand a concept that does not fit into this framework. They become idiots (not used as a pejorative but as a clinical term, I am, after all, striving to be professional) The implications of this imprinting are profound. Bottom up thinking is regarded as psychotic by mental health and meta-physical bullshit by the general population. Not only is creativity crushed by this imprinting but it has resulted in a society composed of zombies (stupid people, doing stupid things for stupid reasons) living a meaningless existence in an ant warren.
An example of this is physics, in which the nature of the universe being of a wave nature is known but not understood. To date I am aware of a dozen people who understand, and half of them are dead. Some of the live ones are;
Ted Lumley>http://goodshare.org/wp/whats-the-matter/
Gabriel LaFreniere> http://glafreniere.com/sa_electron.htm
Milo Wolff> http://www.quantummatter.com/
Consider the following discussion between Chief Dan George, Erwin Schrodinger and Albert Einstein on the wave nature of the universe.
http://goodshare.org/wp/whats-the-matter/
The question was posed “is space making electrons or are electrons making space?”
Automatically excluded were the possibilities of both or neither. This is the “brain fart” a built in logic flaw in the brain.
The answer is NOT A or B but both or neither.
Please note I am not speaking of physics here, I am speaking of thinking of physics.
http://www.divshare.com/direct/12610892-4f8.pdfI recently became interested in the aboriginal framework of reasoning. I have heard it described as circular reasoning.
Circular reasoning is an attempt to support a statement by simply repeating the statement in different or stronger terms. In this fallacy, the reason given is nothing more than a restatement of the conclusion that poses as the reason for the conclusion.
I don’t see it that way, I see it as “wheels within wheels” and not even “what goes around comes around” but “what goes around comes around goes around etc”. For instance a 260 day calendar would seem to make no sense unless one considers that the gestation period is 260 days. Thus if a woman conceived on Tzolkin 10 she could expect the birth on Tzolkin 10, As this was synchronized with the Haab (365 day calendar) no calculation was needed. This imprinting is canabilastic in nature, like the zombie, it want’s to eat your brains. It is the Ayn Rand Beast.
Consider the Protohuman “Charlie Chimp” in the paleolithic, considering whether he should bonk Polly protohuman. Using top down thinking the answer comes out in a simplified, non-nuanced yes or no. However, As Charlie hasn’t had the social imprinting to mess up his mind, he can use another logic method. Bottom up, a weighted Boolean network with possibilities of yes, no, or maybe. The weighting aspect is an aggregate and accumulative bias. Most simply explained by the logic tree “The last time I bonked Polly protohuman, how many times did the alpha male hit me, and how hard?” Charlie compares the bottom up and top down logic and makes a decision on whether his genetic heritage will be carried on through Polly. Very useful as a bullshit detector. “Is what this guy babbling about consistent with my previous experience?” From an assholes point of view, this bullshit detector must be turned off so as to brainwash the idiot. Painting with a broad brush, “education put the sub in subconscious”, was preceded by “religion put the sub in subconscious” preceded by “the alpha male put the sub in subconscious”. (I have a fear that if I talk like an idiot I may start thinking like one.) People have lost the ability to say Bullshit!

Moving right along, when my bullshit detector goes off, I discard ALL logic and view input as data only until the issue is resolved. I have discarded all physics as speculation. It doesn’t even pass the “could be” test. It’s bullshit. Godel’s model has less bullshit than most, but it’s still bullshit. (I suspect that he may understand what he’s saying and is trying to communicate with idiots). All of his twisted logic and convoluted math doesn’t prove or disprove anything. All he has done is twist and stretch the rubber ruler till it matches observed data. My observation on this matter has been that knowledge is inversely proportional to understanding. “Stupid may be catching” – el Loco Gringo From an egocentric point of view, the disjuncture occurs inside the skull, this difference between a perception of reality and the interpretation of same. As far as I can see, the vast majority of speculation on the output side is bullshit. On the input side all I have to work with is a filtered perception. This filtered perception leads me to conclude that it has a rotational aspect (perceived) and has a beat of 8 (is recursive with a harmonic of 8) That it is vibrations and is negentropic seems too obvious to discuss. There is overwhelming evidence that it is and nothing but “common sense” that says it isn’t. I am shocked that you consider “rotating vectors” a notion. Granted it’s a kludge, but it’s the best kludge available (to date) The entire industrialized civilization is built around this kludge. By filtered I mean that we do not have input across the entire spectrum. For instance, you turn on a radio and music comes out. There is obviously something invisible happening. Depending on one’s world view, this could be interpreted as magic, god, nirvana, whatever. (Actually I kind of like the idea of god, if there is one there is no evidence he gives a shit about man, one way or the other) If the universe is harmonic vibrations, it logically follows that time, color, touch, and sound are the minds way of making sense of motion, (time) non-motion, (touch) vibrations in the 20-20khz range (sound) and 300-700Thz. (color) Every one knows it but no one understands it. It should be obvious once it is pointed out, but it isn’t to most people. Why?

You know that no matter how eloquent the words, how impecable the logic, how irrefutable the facts, it can’t be reached, not in any way. There is no mind there” – Ayn Rand I call it the abyss, IE all words fall into the abyss. I like beast better Consider the Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland, perhaps the greatest treatise on philosophy ever written. When queried on which road to take, he responded “Well, if you don’t know where you’re going it doesn’t much matter which path you take” And this is, in fact, where we are when trying to figure something out. WE DON’T KNOW WHERE WE’RE GOING. To start with the answer and work our way back to the question is insane. Can’t anyone else see that?

“You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here”. – Max Ehrmann
Whisper.pdf

Centering involves more than emotional balance, it requires a harmony between mind, body, soul, environment and emotion. All elements must be addressed simultaneously. Toxicity must be removed. Health problems, in and of themselves cause emotional problems. Medication to treat them cause more problems.

You cannot aspire to emotional serenity while your health is keeping you mired in the mud. There is no quick fix, it requires resolve.”I’m going to do this thing”. Recognize gluttony for what it is. If you are overweight, lose it. Skip the scales, use the panty drop test, if your panties hit the floor, you’re heading in the right direction. Skip the diets, it’s not nice to fool mother nature. If it tastes good don’t eat it. Go hungry, your stomach will shrink to reflect the new reality. Check with the doctor to ensure proper nutrition. You’ll get your payback when you have to buy new panties.

Recognize sloth for what it is, take walks in the park and enjoy the beauty of nature. Recognize insecurity for what it is. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good. Recognize medication for what it is, usually a way to resolve symptoms that allow you to continue an unhealthy lifestyle in an unhealthy environment. Check with your doctor for non-medical solutions. Else, accept it. Recognize shame for what it is, we have been brainwashed into thinking pride is a sin.

The universe is incomplete without you. And above all, do not allow someone else to occupy rent free space in your mind. Do not allow anyone to hijack your goal of becoming who you are supposed to be, they are trying to pollute your mind.

Learn to bypass the canned answers you got in school and seek your own truth.

Love hard, laugh hearty and sleep well. Pursue a purpose greater than yourself. Be more than you can be. Accept yourself as you are.

Log on to Sid Here for more resources. Sid Here Website

You can do this thing.

Keep in mind that the mind is a system within a system. Picture rubber bands attached to all of the elements of this system. If you move one element and release the pressure, it will snap back. Thus if you live in a toxic environment and try to become centered, you will keep snapping back to where you were. You must cut this rubber band to succeed.
You have been given a gift. Enjoy unwrapping it.

American Gods

Posted in Lost Gods with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 27, 2010 by ellocogringo

American Gods is a Hugo and Nebula Award-winning novel by Neil Gaiman. The novel is a blend of Americana, fantasy, and various strands of ancient and modern mythology, all centering on a mysterious and taciturn protagonist, Shadow.  AGWiki I haven’t read this yet but here’s the download.  American Gods.  And here’s a blow by blow analysis.  ForgottenGod And here’s the 1st of 12 online readings.  AmericanGods This book is to gothic what “whole lotta love” is to acid rock”
This guy’s got an interesting take on it.  “The mainstream concept of considering religious diversity and its negative effect on mankind as a social enigma, and attempting to find ways of making it work cohesively, has been, and is a total failure. But, the logical approach of attempting to discover the truth behind the phenomenon of multiple gods, and examining alternative explanations for it is ignored. A practical approach is to consider the alternatives and determine the logic of each of the possible reasons for this diversity.” WorldsGods As does the theosophical society.  Theosophy holds that all religions are attempts by the “Spiritual Hierarchy” to help humanity in evolving to greater perfection, and that each religion therefore has a portion of the truth   Theosophy Research ChrystalLinks is an excellent website for exploration in this area.  Have we entered the dawn of the age of aquarius ?  5thDimension This is getting spooky. Shadow appears to be the one I refer to as stranger, and Helga refers to as spectre in atenonol dreams.  This is a triple hit, enough to elevate Schrödinger’s “one mind” from “could be” to “best answer to date” .  Anybody have any thoughts on that?  Weird shit man.  GoogleBooks

“More than a tourist in America, but not a native, Neil Gaiman offers an outside-in and inside-out perspective on the soul and spirituality of the country–our obsessions with money and power, our jumbled religious heritage and its societal outcomes, and the millennial decisions we face about what’s real and what’s not.” –Therese Littleton “Religions are, by definition, metaphors, after all: God is a dream, a hope, a woman, an ironist, a father, a city, a house of many rooms, a watchmaker who left his prize chronometer in the desert, someone who loves you-even, perhaps, against all evidence, a celestial being whose only interest is to make sure your football team, army, business, or marriage thrives, prospers and triumphs over all opposition.  Religions are places to stand and look and act, vantage points from which to view the world.” – American Gods p508

Is this in fact the dawning of the age of aquarius? Monkey see, monkey do? There may well be a “critical mass” required to shift a new behavior from being a fragile personal idiosyncrasy to being a well-established alternative, but creating a new alternative does not automatically displace older alternatives. It just provides more choices. It is possible that the washing alternative established by the monkeys on Koshima Island did create a morphogenetic field that made it easier for monkeys on other islands to “discover” the same technique, but the actual research neither supports nor denies that idea. It remains for other cultural experiments and experiences to illuminate this question.

The 100th monkey phenomenon is supposed to kick in when 1/3 of the population achieves awareness.  There definitely is something to this. The same phenomenon was observed in the Mogabi zoo, where chimps were observed washing cats prior to stuffing them down the garbage disposal, saving on plumbing bills. (Note picture above) The practice has since spread to all zoos. From what I have seen so far,  from the end of the ice age, our connectedness has been systematically destroyed leaving us as mindless robots, swarming in this ant warren of a society we live in.

“It is not in the nature of man–nor of any living entity–to start out by giving up, by spitting in one’s own face and damning existence; that requires a process of corruption whose rapidity differs from man to man. Some give up at the first touch of pressure; some sell out; some run down by imperceptible degrees and lose their fire, never knowing when or how they lost it. Then all of these vanish in the vast swamp of their elders who tell them persistently that maturity consists of abandoning one’s mind; security, of abandoning one’s values; practicality, of losing self-esteem. Yet a few hold on and move on, knowing that that fire is not to be betrayed, learning how to give it shape, purpose and reality. But whatever their future, at the dawn of their lives, men seek a noble vision of man’s nature and of life’s potential. …” – Ayn Rand

“And then the man who bears the pitcher will walk across an arc of heaven. The sign and signet of the Son of man stands forth in the eastern sky. The wise will then lift up their heads and know that the redemption of the earth is near” – Bible “What lies ahead for Humanity? With all the problems we have, it’s hard to believe our future is bright. Inflation and recession, environmental deterioration, diminishing resources, unrest and oppression in developing countries, and apathy, loneliness and lack of direction in developed ones all combine to severely cloud the horizon…It may seem fantastic, but the signs in the heavens point to an extraordinary renewal in the years just ahead. If we recall some recent trends, this prospect doesn’t seem so outlandish. It wasn’t too long ago that we heard about the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, and about the revival of spirit among the new generation. We can still hear the echoes of John Kennedy’s call to action and see the vision of Martin Luther King’s dream. Before he and his dream were shot down in 1968, he said we as a people “would get to the promised land.” The promise seems empty now, yet the planetary cycles support his prophecy. For what we discover when we examine these cycles is compelling evidence that a renaissance and a golden age is right around the corner.”

But with the we inside of me, I can see man in all his glory and depravity.  The gift has a dark side. Hope and foreboding coexist. Kumbaya Or maybe the age of aquarius will be a self fulfilling prophecy.  Or….. maybe I’m full of shit, I am crazy, don’t you know?   The problem, in my minds, is that neither of these views can be elevated to “best answer to date”.  Dunno. Troubling.

I left this for the webmaster at forgotten gods.
Hmmm!
You would be doing a disservice to mankind if you were to reveal the name of the forgotten god. It is the quest, not the arriving that is important. I speak to that obliquely here>  Epiphany Express
it is the grail in percival
I call it the key to ANN.
Learning makes it profound, teaching makes it trite.
The Forgotten God, like the vedic scripts, and the bible, and folklore, myths, legends are not to be taken literally. After all, what’s a meta phor?
The forgotten god is unique to each individual and profound, else it is dogma and trite. that is the whole point.
neil cautioned you on this here> Please don’t reveal the identity of the god/folkloric entity that people always forget,
so let’s keep it our little secret.
Hmmm?

The Age of Aquarius

When the moon is in the seventh house And jupiter aligns with mars The peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars This is the dawning of the age of aquarius Harmony and understanding Sympathy and trust abounding No more falsehoods or derisions Golden living dreams of visions Mystic crystals revelations And the minds true liberation Aquarius

Dance of life

“Anomie is the enemy”

So you’ve got this dance of life happening as the the mind surfs the turbulent sea of life. No, that’s not a typo, Freud was a fraud. feel free to substitute whatever words you feel comfortable with, the word is not the concept. tao’s a good model as is plato’s. It doesn’t matter, the right mind can’t speak english so it doesn’t really care one way or the other. So the id (sub-conscious, bottom up, yin, mythos whatever) just keeps on collating data for non-inconsistincies, the ego (conscious, top down, yang, logos whatever) just keeps on analyzing the non-inconsistencies and the super ego (caretaker, ANN, supervisor, tao, me whatever) just keeps on evaluating the results of the ego and the id for practicality. Life happens, no matter what words we use or what plans we make. The ANN must deal with reality, not what we think reality is. Mobiles NittyGritty

The Id, Ego and Super-ego keep balancing to keep us ahead of the wave. Dealing with war, love, hate, disease, disappointment, fear, triumph, despair, castastrophe, ideology etc and last but not least, trying to figure out what the hell el Loco Gringo’s talking about.

el Loco Gringo is talking about ideologies, whether societal imprinting, religion, education et al which attach an anchor to the surfboard so we are no longer riding the wave but the wave is riding us. Society becomes psychotic and we go insane trying to deal with it. (insane, not crazy, insane) Barring physiological problems that’s what psychosis is. We can’t keep ahead of the wave with that anchor on the surfboard.

That’s what I’m talking about.

The Lattice – Block on constructivist thinking. Imposed by education to force conformist thinking.

The Taboo – on pride. Imposed by religion and upbringing. Imposes subservience.

Centering – has been disrupted by the efforts of others to control us

Misogyny – Discourages “woman think”

Dancing with death

Posted in Healing with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 15, 2010 by ellocogringo

“I’m a dying old man, and I’m afraid of the dark” – John Wayne, The Shootist

Dancing with death

My observations when the asshole PA triggered a HOCM attack was a feeling of viewing the events in the third person and anger bordering on rage. My consciousness (ANN) pulled back, making an objective, objective (not a repeat) evaluation of the situation. (the caretaker referred to in MPD?) JBT reported the same thing. The ever curious eLG becomes hungry. Tentatively, the reticulator is an intensity amplifier, the aggregate and accumulate weighting applied to the cognitive process. Simply put, when the oxygen level in my brain decreased the reticulator cranked up the amplitude, “whatever is happening, this shit is serious, do something NOW.” I did. Viewed in this context my actions, calling the PA an asshole and storming out, were perfectly rational. I did the right thing and probably saved my life. The anger was essential to saving my life, impelling me to do “whatever it took” to get me out of a hazardous situation. eLG exploded, overiding societal constraints. The ANN stands. Not a crazy reaction but a sane reaction to a crazy situation.
A good definition of anger would be “you are being screwed”, directed inwards. Depression as “you have allowed yourself to be screwed” or as Jung stated “depression is anger without the enthusiasm”
Oddly, I ran across Dr. Dart again in my research. (AspertaSupra) He’s Romanian, not italian. In view of my previous hits, he (she?) evidently is writing papers concerning the reticulator and epigenetics. Possibly the reticulator is the activating mechanism???? I’ve got to get a translation of his papers or get it translated. eLG continues to feed. The following are preliminary entry points, although I’ll have to wade through a bunch of meta-physical bullshit to find out what’s happening.
Or I could be full of shit, I am crazy, don’t you know?
Near-death experiences
Main article: Near-death experience
Another form of spontaneous OBE is the near death experience (NDE). Some subjects report having had an OBE at times of severe physical trauma such as near-drownings or major surgery. In the case of motor vehicle accidents, they are able to recall the accident as if observing it from a location outside the vehicle. – Wikipedia
Reticulator Activator
Have you ever even heard of your Reticulator Activator?
If you haven’t – you’re not alone, but – you DO KNOW what it is.
Its the part of the brain that heightens awareness of certain things at certain times – that’s what your Reticulator Activator is.
